Kendal Turns 2

I know I always say this but it is so true. I love birthdays! Even the idea of them gives me goose bumps. A day all about "YOU" (whoever you are). Presents for you, a song for you, if you are lucky a party for you and birthday spankings just for you. Oh, I love birthdays.

Monday was Kendal's turn for a special day. She loved the attention and by the end of the day she would just tell people, "I TWO". So here is a run down of a birthday fit for a two year old.

First you can't have a birthday girl without a birthday dress.

How about a birthday cake? You have to have one of those.
My third healthy dessert Monday in a row. This time I made Banana Spice Cake with Coconut Cream Frosting. It's a funny thing, people keep asking how can I afford to sew. But I am wondering how do people afford to bake. I had to buy a majority of the ingredients and in doing so I passed this cake that only cost $2.50.

I am not going to lie I was very tempted. Especially since the Birthday girl was crying because mom was doing circles trying to find the stinking ingredients. AHHH!

Of course this little birthday UNhelper made my healthy Monday baking all worth while.

I know what you are thinking, a healthy cake on her birthday? What a rip off, right? Don't worry the following day we visited Me-Ma and she hooked the girl up.

Kendal there are so many things I want to remember about you right now but I am afraid that I will forget. I will forget the way that you say "stop that ickles" or the way your barbies always need help, "help me, help me I dieing". You get so darn ornery when things aren't going your way but you can cuddle like a champ. Your curls are the cutest most unruly things in the universe, I never want to forget them. Or the way you call daddy mommy even though we ALL know you can say daddy (ornery). You are mine and daddy's last baby and we love you so much and despite all of the things I am afraid I will forget you have given me one gift that I will never forget. You have sealed the image of a wonderful daddy loving his babies in my mind forever. An image that I will visit often and smile every time I do.

Why is it that some days I can hold my baby in one arm, six books in the other arm, round up all of my kiddos, pull my library card out of I don't know where and have a smile on my face,

and other days it takes both hands and my complete concentration just to get my library card out?

Just wondering!

Monday Rewind

Yesterday was worth rewinding and playing back.

First I went to Target to get more of the lunch sacks in the dollar spot and I found this handy dandy hanging organizer (it was in the you wish I was a dollar but I am actually $2.50 spot). I love it!!

Second I went BIG grocery shopping yesterday. The kind that by the end you realize that you have to unload all of it when you get home so you take the long way. Our home is full of food again!
I wish grocery shopping was as much fun as shopping for stuff you don't need. Oh look at that new design on those napkins I can't wait to get them home to see how they look in my kitchen. Will you just look at that chicken it is going to look great next to my green beans and rice on my new paper plates. Ugh! It's more like, crap I forgot the napkins and I am not going back to get them. Who needs napkins?

Third I remembered Miserable Monday. I love when I remember on Monday because when I remember on Tuesday I can't do it, nope I've tried. It can't be done.

Fourth I took all of the kids to the dentist for a cleaning. No cavities, just poor Maggie has soft enamel on four of her teeth so she is going to have to get caps. Oh, and Kendal has an awful overbite and you will never guess what it is from. Have you seen her mean face? Well she sticks her bottom teeth over her top teeth and makes the meanest looking face ever and she does it ALL of the time. And so she has trained her teeth. The dentist assures me that they will fix themselves when she stops scowling.

With a scowl like hers what can we expect, Prince Charming?

Really, I caught her hugging (shh and kissing) this pirate at the Dentist's office. I think it has something to do with daddy's new facial hair ( but ARRGH mommy likes it).

Number five is an exciting one. Spencer lost his first tooth in the way that God really intended for it to happen. And then on the way home from the dentist he lost another. YEAH! Lucky for me he knows about the tooth fairy because he literally lost (as in can't find) one tooth and instead of having to look all over the house he looked at me and said, "good thing you already saw it right mom?". To which Maggie said, "that way you can tell the tooth fairy that it was really two teeth". To which I covered Spencer's mouth and said yes Maggie I will talk to the tooth fairy. It kills Spencer that she doesn't believe him about the tooth fairy.

And last I had my second Monday in a row of healthy baking (can baking be healthy?). I decided last Monday when I found myself with extra time that I wanted to bake a healthy treat every Monday. The kids could have some right after school and we would save the rest for Family Home Evening. For those of you that know me I hate to bake so this is actually an out of the box experience for me (of course sometimes the desserts are going to come from inside of a box). Most of the recipes will come from my Weight Watchers Baking cook book but today I aimed to make Maggie happy and used her Strawberry Shortcake cook book. Which made for "berry" annoying thoughts like, oh that is just perfectly perfect or this is going to be berry delicious. How BERRY ANNOYING! See I can't stop.

Back to School

Another school year began on Monday and took with it my little girl.

Maggie started Kindergarten and is just loving it. I have already had notes home from the teacher about how sweet she is and how patient she is with her friends, WHAT? Always better for others (thank goodness). Spencer is enjoying second grade and says he thinks his teacher might be the best he has ever had (hopes it has nothing to do with her immodest wardrobe and cosmetic upgrades). Matthew is just so impressed with his teachers in class library that it is all he talks about. Yeah, for school!!

As for me, I am doing o.k.
