It all began on a normal day, this one was doing that and that one was doing this.. and so on. And then Spencer came to me with a look of pain, Kendal stepped on my penis. To which Kendal replied, No, he stepped on my penis. Not being quite sure how to comfort Spencer I began to explain to Kendal that she didn't have a penis, girls have vagina's. I usually wait a little longer but I felt that she needed to know. Since this day Kendal has voiced much confusion, Do I have a penis or that other word? Is our dog a penis? You mean, is our dog a boy? Oh, yeah, a boy with a penis. I can't decide if this is an improvement from the question, which is this my privacy or my butt? Just call them both your privacy's. O.K., my privacy hurts. Of course now I have to ask which one. To which she points and says is this privacy the butt one. Now her being the fourth of four children I have had a bit of practice with privacy talks. To Spencer an innocent Kindergartner the word penis was learned at school. Shame on us for not teaching him sooner. So we sat him down and told him that boys have penises and girls have vagina's. To which he replied, VA-GI-NA, hmm sounds Chinese and with that his dad and I let him walk away hollering behind him don't talk about it at school. Now Maggie had some questions of her own, Why is the word penis so fun to say if you shouldn't say it very much? I had no reply, for I do believe if it was not the word for the private area of a boy it could be a good name for a pet. Sometimes I think it would have been better if we just kept the whole thing a "privacy" and then I remember that one time in the car. On our way somewhere, an ad came on the radio for a new restaurant in Scottsdale it was a fancy restaurant that provided a lot of "privacy". To which a young Matthew questioned, Why does the restaurant sell privacy's and who would want one? Hmmm, so smart that boy is! So I end these ramblings on with this last comment from the horse stables. Man, that one must be a boy. Yeah, I think he is the "Italian Stallion". Oh, where did I go wrong?

Hay Ride, Horses, a Hike and a Ho Down
I am on fire with finding events in our community. My poor LB is having to simmer me down. I can't miss anything, I must do everything, what is happening next?
White Tanks Mtn. Cowboy Campfire
Hayride
Roasting Marshmallows
Hot Chocolate
Music and Dancing
I am bummed that my camera ran out of batteries before I could get a picture of Spencer on the dance floor (O.K. cement patio). It took much coaxing to get him out there but once he was out there "Boy Howdy" he was on fire. I taught him how to Two Step and he loved it. He taught Maggie and they danced for three songs, it was a fun sight (they actually started to get the hang of it). After the dancing we went on our second hay ride and Maggie and Spencer sat on there own hay bale and talked about starting a Two Step Club. I love kids!
Estrella Mtn. Spaniard Horse Show ( This was a major bust, can't win them all)
Since the horse show was BORING, we decided to go for a hike, play at the park and eat our lunch.
Wow did we save the day! The hike was great, the kids are really getting good at hiking. Even our little princess can hike a good distance on her own (in a dress at that).
I am excited for the summer library events and activities to begin. I am trying something new with summer and filling my glass half way up instead of pouring it half way out. Must prepare for the heat!
My grown up Boy Scout was at an overnight Jamboree. They grow up to fast!
Out Smarted 4 to 1: More Field Trips?
Wow, try staying indoors with the best kids ever when the weather is so beautiful. We can't seem to focus beyond Spring Fever. This past week has been full of hikes, parks, bike rides, sprinklers in the backyard and more field trips. This time we visited some horse friends that we will be taking care of this week (AKA as horse camp) and spent the day at the Ben Avery outdoor expo. I can't believe all of the awesome things Arizona has to offer, who knew?
Meet the horses!
The kids had a good time petting, feeding and meeting the horses at the horse farm. This week they will be getting even closer and learning to care for, saddle and ride a horse. We are all so excited!
Outdoor Expo
All you have to say is "outdoor" and we are there. This was a great family event packed full of animals, stories, fossils, wildlife walks, fishing and we even met Smokey Bear. The kids couldn't believe how many people knew who he was. They asked if he was famous or something. Man, what do they teach in Cub Scouts now a days? MY LB took the day off to be with us and I was so happy that he did. He has been an awesome support with home school and I love him to death for it.
I have a new found love for Spring! Reading books, working out math problems, learning history and exploring new outlets together while listening to the birds, enjoying the sights of spring, trampling in water and laying in the grass. Spring is my favorite time of year.
Please don't get to hot! Please don't get to hot! Just a little bit longer, PLEEEAAASSSSEEE!

A horse after my own heart!

Spring Has Sprung
Yeah! I love spring and being outdoors.
Please don't get too hot, please don't get too hot.
We have been really taking advantage of Spring and the beautiful weather and nature that it brings. The kids and I have been hiking the White Tank Mountains on a regular basis and participating in as many outdoor activities as we can. We are so grateful to be together all day and enjoy the great big world that God has created for us.
Tres Rios Nature Festival
World Wildlife Zoo
This little monkey neighbor came with us. So cute!
Family Trip to the Desert
Instigated by the visit of Aunt Alison
MY LB and his dad helped each of the kiddos shoot guns and bows. The kids had a great time!
A little dirt never hurt, right?
This picture has to be one of my favorite pictures taken this year.
