Twas the Night before Vacation

Twas the night before vacation. We were all bursting with anticipation. Mom made a checklist which she checked as we went. The presents were packed and the Christmas cards sent. Dad packed the suitcases, beach toys, and Christmas tree. Don't forget my camera mom yelled with GLEE. We stuffed and filled every inch of our van. In hopes that it would all fit, stuff it in if we can. At last it was time to climb into our beds where visions of sea shell ornaments, sand snowmen, and presents danced in our heads. In the morning dad shouted "Get up! Rise and Shine! It's time for vacation. Let's leave here on time!" Then a few moments later there arose such a clatter we ran to the window to see what was the matter. When what to our eyes should appear but our mom all giddy with CHEER. ON MATTHEW AND MAGGIE, KENDAL AND SPENCER to your seats and buckle up tight vacation day is here. Daddy sprang to the drivers seat to his wife gave a wink. And away we all went this will be so fun we all think. But alas we couldn't help exclaiming as we drove out of site.

3 of 3 is "ME"

Birthday 3 of 3 is "ME". Yep, yesterday I turned 32 years old. I have learned over the years two very important mom facts. First, sick days really aren't for moms. Second, mom still comes second, third, fourth, fifth (how many kids do I have?) even on their birthdays. Of course MY LB always does everything in his power to make me "FIRST" on his list everyday but especially on my birthday. Yesterday was no exception........

• He didn't forget to tell me Happy Birthday during his goodbye kiss. I think, I don't remember for sure, but he may have sung to me too. ????????????


• Called the kids in the morning to remind them and probe them to sing all together to me. Well of course we were all still sleeping at 7:40 when we had to be to school at 8:00. Mad rush sleepy kids! They just kept fighting about when they were going to sing and who was ready until FINALLY Spencer just sang to me by himself. Well Matthew started crying and said Spencer was ruining his special day (he had a Polar Express Party at school so that qualified the day as HIS special day). Finally MY LB walked in to save the day. He kissed me and said he forgot his Lap Top and was out the door again. What a whirlwind, I finally got the kids out the door and was racing to get dressed to do my visiting teaching and volunteer at the school.


• When MY LB got home after work he helped out with Afterschooling and said lets take mom out to dinner. He took me to PIZZA, did you know that I LOVE PIZZA? I especially love sit down pizza restaurants they bring back LOTS of fun waitress memories and I don't know why but I love the atmosphere (this does NOT include Peter Piper or Sir Chuck E).







• He also made me a cake. I am ready to admit to all that MY LB bakes way better than I do. When I mentioned this last night Spencer said it's because he is "A SON OF A BAKER" (hope that made you laugh as much as it did us Grandma). Of course Spencer is correct his dad has learned some mad baking skills from his mom. The cake was wonderful!





• And of course when we were all alone he got all mushy (teary eyed too) and told me how much I mean to him and how he can't picture life without me. Well, I have to admit I am totally head over heels IN LOVE with that man. I think I could possibly say once again that I AM TRULY THE LUCKIEST!!

Christmas Yet?

It does not look like Christmas at our house. So we are living through the lights and trees of others for now. We are getting ready to go to the BEACH for Christmas. Packing for vacation instead of putting up lights and a tree. Seems WEIRD!! Our Christmas shopping is done and the presents are wrapped and under.... next to the couch our tree is yet to come. Our stockings are packed to be hung somewhere. AND OH how I can't wait to DECORATE!

All I have to say is thank goodness for friends that bring TREATS! Yesterday when I was shoving peanut butter popcorn and chocolate double chip cookies in my mouth (at the same time, just mixing flavors YUM) I thought to myself....

WOW I LOVE CHRISTMAS

It is so embarrasing leaving comments on people's blogs and having The Domestic Queen show up. So I am feeling a little preasure to come up with a name before everyone thinks I am well TOTALLY INTO MYSELF. I really wanted it to be something about ME and not so much me as a Domestic Queen TEE-HEE. I mean my life is so consumed with cleaning, cooking, kids and MY LB (not complaining). But what about ME? So here it is................

Tonight we went to the Tempe outdoor mall and played in the snow (field trip for Afterschooling). Or should I say BUBBLES. It was so much fun, I loved watching the kids amazement and surprise when they figured out, "Hey mom this isn't snow it's BUBBLES".

After the snow we watched a concert and then went out for Ice Cream at Chick Fillet

Birthday Number 2 of 3

Just as I promised I am back with another Birthday!

Matthew turned 9 last week! I can't believe it, he was our first baby. Where did the time go? I remember my parents talking about how the years just fly by but I always thought they didn't know what they were talking about. I mean when you're little and you go to school everyday and you count the months, days and hours until it is FINALLY your birthday, Halloween, Christmas, etc. the days don't ever seem to fly by fast enough. Now that I am a MOM I am thinking I should have paid more attention because the days are flying and my babies are growing and I feel like I am missing it even though I am with them every day.

A Letter to Matthew

Matthew,

Dad and I love you so much. I can remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. I remember feeling closer to your dad than I ever have. He is an amazing man and I will never forget the tears of joy and gratitude that he shed when he saw you for the first time. Oh yeah, dad and I have been meaning to thank you for this, the day you were born dad and I felt closer to our Heavenly Father than even seems possible. Our Heavenly Father blessed us with a perfect baby boy (YOU), a Child of God. And you have been just that a blessing in our home an example and light in our world.
