O.k so this last picture is of a white boy version of a gang sign maybe, not sure what they were doing but they thought they were being VERY cool.
I really wanted to post something today and I figured it wasn't to late to tell you all about our first day of school. The boys were up EARLY and they were dressed (matching) ready to go. The look on their poor faces when I told them "GO BACK TO BED" was a sad sight. It was 5:00 in the morning and I was picturing their moods half way through the school day when they got tired. They went back to their room but I could hear them chatting about school and it made me smile. I assure you that the excitement lasted only one day. On the second day of school it was back to the norm.
Spencer is in first grade. Matthew was very helpful to us and couldn't stop telling Spencer how mean his teacher is and that she yells a lot (all true I am afraid). Despite this horrible truth Spencer enjoys 1st grade and says his teacher really only yells sometimes. Wow, what a relief !! I have volunteered in his class once and she is a really a fun person just low tolerance. I have to tell you when I entered his class I was greeted by a fellow 1st grader "YO YO I am Regime YO YO hows it spinning?" O.k I wanted to grab my kid and run. Instead we had a huge talk about how this boy, who truly through the entire time I was there had a very shocking vocabulary (o.k. I am not a prude, I did laugh to myself) was not showing respect to himself or others. I try to look at this experience as a life lesson and an opportunity to practice "CTR".
Matthew is in 3rd grade and his teacher is amazing. I am pretty convinced that she had a hand in the invention of SCHOOL. I have never met anyone this organized, dedicated, and devoted to anything in my life. She is fantastic!! So my first day volunteering she had a bin with all of the things she needed me to do in order with instructions as well as a take home packet in the very back of the pile. All of the children were very quiet and working on independent writing. She did not sit at her desk and think of it as a break, she was walking around the room stopping to help where needed. She is Fantastic!! Matthew really needs structure and discipline so this makes it even better.
And Maggie as you can see in the pictures is doing the "HAPPY" dance!! The computer all to herself and free reign over all fuzzy stuffed animals.
Kendal missed her brothers but enjoyed her Independence from the over protective Spencer. She did greet them with a big smile and kiss at the end of the day.
Mom and Dad were excited for the boys to be separate during the day and come back at the end of the day as pals. Our summer days always started as pals but by the end of the day one of them would have convinced Maggie that he was her best brother and they would proceed to pick on the other until Mom SCREAMED. Finally the odd man out would just pretend that Kendal was capable of being on a team and hang out with her just out of spite. This was usually Spencer. So now our home has less sibling contention. However it was replaced with I don't want to do my homework, why do I have to do chores I already worked hard at school, why can't this be a game cube day and the lunch boxes in the pictures are just a memory now. Thank goodness I have my mommy "PAY CHECKS" (great moments with my kiddos) or I think I would go nuts!
