Loving Summer

Every week of summer brings new adventures and fun memories. Last week will be hard to beat as it was particularly busy with fun.
On Monday grandma invited us to go to Sedona with her, Uncle Philip and her friend Susan. It was so beautiful and such a great break from the desert. After Sedona we went and had dinner and yummy (some experimental) smoothies with Amber's Clan.

SEDONA

Where are the boys? Aren't boys suppose to like mud? Maybe it's an age thing and they are to old to get DIRTY. Or maybe mom took all the fun away when she said "No throwing mud". I personally think that girls just know how have more fun. GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN... THAT'S ALL THEY REALLY WANT....SOME FUUUUN!

These pictures are very deceiving. Upon looking at them you may think, wow those Mecham kids really loved the water. But alas NO they did not. Matthew was not worried so much about the Crawdads but what may have been eating them (the two we found were dead). Spencer swore that he saw a Water Lizard and Maggie was concerned based on the cries of her older brothers concerning water creatures. Kendal was the exception, she loved it. Matthew says it's because she doesn't know any better. TEE-HEE!!

This may not be as big of a deal for you as it is for me but THIS IS ME!

All in all it was a great day that brought us all closer together. Just look at these siblings loving each other.

Wednesday we spent the entire day with Me-Ma and Pa-Pa. It was a beautiful day once again beating the almost heat of the Valley.

Hanging out with Me-Ma and cousins

Me-Ma raises baby bunnies and we love baby bunnies. Watching the girls with the bunnies brings back so many memories of being a little girl. I remember dressing the little bunnies up and pushing them around in my baby doll stroller. As soon as I have a baby bunny in my hands their soft precious fur pulls me in and I am a little girl again. Kendal was especially loving them, look at her smile. She called them Meows.

Friday daddy came home from work early to hang out with his family that he missed so much. The boys finished yet another reading expedition and we were off to Chuckee Cheese. We had the best time, really we did, I was surprised too. It was early enough in the day that it was not busy and we all had such a good time. On the way home we stopped at the park and then stopped at Golden Spoon to finish the day off with some YUMMIES.

Chuckee's Place
Of course I feel bad that I was only taking pictures of Kendal. BUT the other kids were frantically trying to win tickets and everything is just SO much cuter when they are little. Just look how HAPPY she is!

Exactly my point, not so cute when they are big.

The kids actually did end up earning LOTS of tickets and two rocket launchers, two sticky frogs, lots of candy and a page of stickers later we were on our way to the park.

The Park

You need to know that lately Spencer has been trying to peer pressure me into doing things. He chants my name and tries to get me to do things like my crazy dance in front of others, he tried to get me to eat a hot pepper at lunch and here it is he got me on top of this mountain. I always cave under peer pressure I have the past to prove it. Oh yeah and this picture.

Kendal loves the park. We refer to it as the "SLIDE" and she always lights up with anticipation. Despite my experiences as a mom and negative behavior I taught this little princess to......"Put up her DUKES". She even has the face of intimidation to back it up.

So you see it was another GREAT week of summer. The best part is that it is June and we are still playing outdoors. YEAH FOR SUMMER!!

HAPPY FATHER

This is MY LB, AKA MY LOVER BOY!
Today we celebrate him and his fatherhood. He has been a father for nine and a half years. It started off with an amazing little boy and continued on to an additional amazing boy and two beautiful little girls. Each time one of them would enter into their mortal existence he would be waiting with amazement, tears and always gratitude to his Father in Heaven. As he held them in his arms to give them a father's blessing the Spirit was strong and his gratitude and love for his sweet child was again revealed through prayer.

As they grow he continues to love them, give them father's blessings, play with them, teach them and still expresses that same gratitude and love to his Father in Heaven through prayer for sending them to him.

When that first little boy turned eight I watched MY LB enter the waters of baptism with his son. I caught his gaze and he looked at me again with the same tears that I saw when that little boy was born. He again said a prayer to his Heavenly Father a prayer that would forever change the life of the son that he loves. And he now looks forward to three more baptisms. Each time bringing our family closer to our eternal goal. To live together forever!
I love MY LB for so many reasons but today
I love him best because he loves them.

MISERABLE, Really I don't want to be!

I have decided after reading my How To Be Miserable book several times that I am an expert! I know exactly how to be "miserable" and I am very good at it. I think John Bytheway may have taken Ms. Frizzle's Magic School Bus into my mind and figured out the keys to being "miserable". How about an explanation...........

Saturday was GREAT everything was seriously fantastic. In the A.M. Matthew and I went on a Cub Scout field trip to the zoo, when I got home I was surprised to see my wall I wanted painted was done (what a great LB), I took a well deserved nap, woke up to go swimming at the aquatic center, had a delicious dinner waiting in the Crock Pot AND THEN (this is the climax, may not seem of much of one but somehow it was for me) I checked my phone messages and I had a message that just BUGGED me. Well I made a promise to myself that I would not allow myself to be BUGGED anymore. So I called the person that I love very much and told her that my feelings were hurt. Perfect right? That was the end of it right?

WRONG...... I thought about it all night. I let it turn our Wii tennis tournament into a big stink, let it make me very irritable and well I just let it take me over and turn me into a BLOB of BLEK.

After the kids were in bed MY LB was so great to listen to me and voice his love and concern for me. I just love that guy!

It didn't end there I literally dreamed about it and it wasn't pretty. It was like reliving all the stink of my childhood (had to leave out the great parts because even in my dream I was trying to be miserable) all in one night.

I am better now! I read my scriptures, went to church, prayed hard about it and I am going to try hard not to "DWELL". Because contrary to my thoughts and actions I really do not wish to be MISERABLE.

Daily, constantly, we choose by our
desires, our thoughts, and our actions
whether we want to be blessed or cursed,
happy or miserable.

Up Date

I felt like I was leaving you hanging with the remainder of our week last week. Things slowed down a bit........
Thursday - We went to the library in the A.M. to return some movies and get some prizes. In the P.M. we tried to go to the pool with Aunt Kosette but they were both closed so we went to the sprinkler park instead. After we got home I was off to enrichment night.

Friday- We went to a small library branch close to one of the pools and took a mini Spanish class. I was impressed with Matthew's memory and Spencer's pronunciation. After the library we hit the pool! That night we took the kids to Toys R Us to spend their commission and spent an evening at home. MY LB and I watched a couple of movies while the kids played and slept.

Saturday was a nice relaxing day. We cleaned in the A.M., attended a baptism, took naps, went to grocery shopping and ended the day at a birthday party. After the birthday party daddy went to a movie with some friends and mommy stayed home and hung out with Kendal while everyone else went to bed.

I don't know about any of you but the beginning of summer appears to be dragging. However I know when the end comes we will say, "Wow that went by to fast".

This weeks goal is to hit the swimming pool everyday and wear out the kiddos to a point of exhaustion. This way I figure they wont even have the energy to fight. We are off to a good start with the sprinkler park with Nicki's clan and a picnic before we hit the aquatic center today. They are tired and appear to be dragging. YEAH, my plan is working, HA..HA....HA....HA...HAAAAA!

What day is it?

Holy cow what a week we are having. I feel like it should be Friday already. Here is a run down of our week thus far.

Monday we ventured out and went to a neighboring library for story time and a picnic with our teddy bears.

Teddy Bear Picnic

Surprise! The park had a splash pad.
Later that day we met Jolene's clan at a park with a splash pad for pizza, visiting and getting wet.
Tuesday is movie day, kudos to Amy. We watched Madagascar 2 we had a special surprise of seeing our cousins there. After the movies we came home for a rough afternoon of mommy preparing for Pack Meeting and the kiddos not quite getting the hang of entertaining themselves. That night it was a quick dinner and off to Pack Meeting where Matthew was getting his Bear badge.
YEAH MATTHEW!
After Pack Meeting I rushed over to the Stake Center for my final night of Volley Ball. Shout out to all of the fine ladies that made up our team. It was fun!
So today is Wednesday, I think. Already we have had a full day of fun.
Magician at the library
It was so fun to see the faces on my little people. I have to admit I probably had a pretty amused and surprised expression as well. The picture of the kids reading was taken while we sat in line waiting. Why a line you ask? Well the city we live in has a mandatory line for all events. Even if a line isn't really necessary, we still line up. WHY??
Immediately after the library we went over to the splash pad park to meet our ward friends and have a picnic. Tonight dad has Scouts so we will have to break out our Library movies and just RELAX.
Is it Friday yet?
